You'll Thank Me Someday

When the Revolution comes (when the Left shall rise again!), I shall be playing "Shake Your Booty," by KC & the Sunshine Band and brandishing a flame-thrower. For those of you who will want to leave the country out of fear for your lives, here's a bit of helpful information...

U.S. Law: A US citizen can take possession of any foreign, uninhabited island, as long as it contains bird droppings.

Citation: TITLE 48 - TERRITORIES AND INSULAR POSSESSIONSCHAPTER 8 - GUANO ISLANDSSec. 1411. Guano districts; claim by United States

Whenever any citizen of the United States discovers a deposit of guano on any island, rock, or key, not within the lawful jurisdiction of any other government, and not occupied by the citizens of any other government, and takes peaceable possession thereof, and occupies the same, such island, rock, or key may, at the discretion of the President, be considered as appertaining to the United States.

Thanks to www.dumblaws.com for the info.

I just ate a cupcake

What is it that makes us listen to music?

I've had "You Ought to Know" by Atlantis Marmasette going through my head for the past 3 days (unfortunately). I've tried to block it with "Withered and Died" by Richard and Linda Thompson, to no avail. Still, the experience has begun my thinking about why we listen to music.

I think - I ain't sure - but I think it's a community thing, part of the whole survival instinct. Something that gets members of said community to become more unified. Think of church services gone bad (revivals), Rock concerts, marching music (man that stuff really gets me feeling good!). For some reason guys with muscle/Suped-up cars tend to blast music to increase the potential for being noticed. Damn! That works like a charm. And for all the right reasons, too (sic).

However, there is also the picture of the lonely, despondant teen listening to loud music alone in his room as he contemplates suicide or worse. Could be this picture is of someone who feels out of place and the music makes him feel part of something, if not very tangible at the time.

Anyway, I hate music. It has too many notes. And I spend too much money on it. "Another version of me, is she perverted like me..." GET THIS DAMN SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

Oh! To be in NYC in Spring... when the Nuts are in bloom

Why do I wish I were in NYC? My friend Jon at exhibit 5a wrote about a crazy person he came into contact with today. The best we have in Harrisburg, PA is the crazy lady who can read minds on the full moon and the guy who refuses to bath and uses my bookstore's phone to call in his bets. Jon gets entertaining. We get annoying. His may be a little more frightening, but I'll take his freaks over my pains in the ass any day.

Less than two years for my debts to be paid off and I'm outta here!! Two freaking years. By then I could be one of the annoying freaks.
